St. Francis De Sales School, as was known, is an English Medium, coeducational Catholic Institution under the Diocese of Kohima. It was established in 1979 by the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales affiliated to the Nagaland Board of School Education. It has a humble beginning starting from the Pre-Primary with the enrolment of 72 students in a small four room building which was blessed by Rev. Fr. P.V. Joseph, then Vicar General of Kohima Diocese and inaugurated by Mr. Rokonicha the then MLA.
Under the dynamic leadership and caring tutelage of Rev. Fr. Philip Mangatt the founder principal and Rev. Fr. Jose Mundolly the first Parish Priest, the school soon grew in strength and esteem and continue to be so till today. Much credit is due to Rev. Fr. Philip Mangatt not only for being the pioneer and the longest serving Principal to date, but also for his innovative skills and his ability in guiding and nurturing the school in its founding years. Equally illustrious administrators and principals have succeeded him over the years each of them contributing in his own way to the growth and development of the school. Rev. Fr. George Vadakkeperincherimannil msfs is at the helm of affairs at present.
The Sisters of Providence has always been an integral part of the school – right from its inception, sharing the burden of administration till date and contributing towards its growth and development.
The localities of Medziphema town and the villages within its vicinity deserves quality education and the Catholic Church through the Missionaries of St, Francis De Sales have answered to their prayers. Today, the school has an excellent track records of both curricular and co curricular activities. The several rank holders both at the HSLC and HHSLC and coveted trophies won by the school at the inter school meets over the years bear this out.

39 years has gone by since its inception from a humble beginning with just 72 students, S.F.S. Hr. Sec. School Medziphema, as it is known today is one of the leading private schools in Nagaland with the strength of 1627 students. It runs classes from Nursery to class – XII and recognized by the Nagaland Board of School Education since 1984. Situated 11/2Km away from the National Highway 29 and from Medziphema town towards Socünoma village stands the magnificent gate of SFS Hr. Sec. School welcoming the young minds In Pursuit of Truth.
Today the School has sound infrastructure with well equipped and furnished Computer Labs, Sports and Games facilities, Smart Classrooms, Library, well maintain Canteen and above all a clean, green and environment friendly campus creating a conducive atmosphere for learning and growth; a campus where teachers and students are partners in learning, where the former not only teaches but is a guide, mentor and facilitator. The school is blessed with students from different cultures and languages to form a single family known as The Desalites.
